Susan Kruse, Executive Director of C3
Susan Kruse became C3’s first Executive Director in 2019. Susan has advocated for environmental protection and social justice for more than 25 years, serving in a variety of roles for organizations such as the Legal Aid Justice Center and Appalachian Voices. She was appointed to Virginia’s Clean Energy Advisory Board for a three-year term by Governor Ralph Northam in 2019, and she was selected as Vice Chair in 2022.
Susan Bauer-Wu, Author of A Future We Can Love: How We Can Reverse the Climate Crisis through the Power of our Hearts and Minds
Susan Bauer-Wu is an author who has held leadership, academic, and clinical positions in nonprofits, universities, and in health care. Her most recent book – published last June - is A Future We Can Love: How We Can Reverse the Climate Crisis through the Power of our Hearts and Minds. Susan is the Former President of the Mind & Life Institute, a non-profit with global reach based in Charlottesville that was co-founded by the Dalai Lama 36 years ago to bridge science and contemplative wisdom.
Dustina Gill, Director of Nis’to Incorporated
Dustina Gill, Sitomni Sa Yapi Win, Paints Red Around Her, hails from the Wahpekute band of the Oceti Sakowin and is an enrolled citizen of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate in the northeast corner of South Dakota on the Lake Traverse Reservation. Dustina is the Director of the non profit Nis’to Incorporated. Nis'to is a Native youth non-profit organization dedicated to leadership development through skill building, peer mentoring, and community organizing using a holistic cultural approach.
Stephanie Roe, the Global Climate Lead Scientist at World Wildlife Fund
Dr. Stephanie Roe is the Global Climate Lead Scientist at World Wildlife Fund (WWF), working to advance the science on climate mitigation and adaptation, and inform practice and policy. She is a Lead Author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report and is member of the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) Technical Council. Dr. Roe’s research and expertise focus on land-climate interactions, integrated approaches to climate, biodiversity, and social well-being, and pathways to 1.5ºC.
